When I was very young, I used to make my own adventure games in HyperCard (a precursor to web technologies), and was fascinated by the sense of place hyperlinking could create. I went on to pursue a career as a professional cellist, and later on, an audio technician on large-scale arena concerts, these environments also allowed me to continue my passion for connecting systems to create a place for audiences to inhabit and explore. When the 2020 pandemic shuttered my entire industry, I decided that it was a perfect opportunity to transition into Software Engineering and continue this passion. After participating in App Academy’s coding bootcamp, I am very proud of the full-stack web applications I have built using JavaScript, Python, React, Redux, HTML, CSS, Node, Express, Flask, and PostgreSQL. My music industry experience gave me numerous transferable skills such as implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex systems at scale, and working in high pressure, fast-paced environments, but I also have since put in the work to gain essential web development skills.
